this weekend

(some sewing this weekend- L to R: elephant, crocodile, cat toys for a friend, goat; not pictured: corduroy bones for friend's dogs)

Some dids and didn'ts this weekend:

Did:
-get some sleep -get some sewing done -meet up with best friend and her boyfriend for delicious vegetarian eats (red bean & rice burger!) & ice cream (pistachio, cardamom & almond!) & talk of old school TGIF (family matters! step by step! etc!) -have some quality husband time & fun adventures with him
-write a guest post (check it out!)
-go over a friend's house & play with her dogs & eat pizza

Didn't:
-do as much sewing as I would like
-plant my seedlings
-get enough sleep
-catch up on blogs

How was your weekend? Fingers crossed, I have a good feeling about this week being great!

pay back!

So I don't know if you guys know this but I opened up a shop? Har har. Of course you know! And you know why? Because my blogger friends are awesome, that's why! I am so touched by your many sweet posts (and retweets and facebook posts about the shop, I'm looking at you, Jo , Sarah and Angie. Thanks girls!). I am pouring my heart into this and just thank you for your overall wonderfulness all the time. I originally opened my store because sewing by hand was soothing to me after this (also, opening an etsy store was one of longterm at-some-point-in-my-life goals). It might seem counterproductive since babies (more pregnant women than babies) are making my ovaries sad (not all pregnant ladies!). I figured out though if I was making things that made others happy and the process made me feel good, why the hell not? Also, I'm a big believer in good karma (the fact that my car passed inspection and I got my parking spot back at work yesterday after leaving at lunch is proof of that right? backstory: the students at the college I work at usually steal my spot). So on that note, to pass some of this good karma around, I wanted to give a shout out to some of my favorite people's etsy shops*. Please check them out and buy some of their cool stuff!

(find her shop here!)
Lisa- Lisa 1 (as I like to call her) is awesome. We originally 'met' when we were planning our weddings around the same time. Did I mention how cool her super crafty wedding was? Well it was! Her blog is great, she is extremely talented at making super cute bags and she is an all around awesome chick. She is one of the few who have made the transition from blog friend to facebook friend. She is one of my original best blog friends and I hope we can always be close! Buy some cute totes, we all need more totes!

(find her shop here!)

Lizzie- You all know this crazy cool chica right? I mean what more can I say that you don't know? She is AMAZINGLY talented (her blog just oozes super cool graphics/perfectly written posts; also that fiance of hers is pretty talented too!). She lets me (of all people!) guest post on her blog and she is always so kind as to comment on my little blog and to comment to all my comments on hers. Short story: she rocks. Check her etsy shop out, especially if you are shopping around for invites. You will not be disappointed.

Jennifer- I love this lady. We go way back to working at IKEA together (we were those people who supervised your kids while you shopped. If you ever want to hear any good stories involving giant shoes or ball pits, let me know). I am so lucky to have such a great person in my life as a dear friend and I love being able to watch her children grow up (her amazingly cutie pie, super stylish and hilarious kids). Also, she was one of the first weddings I ever went to and the wedding I kept in my mind when I was planning ours. Please check out her vintage shop**, most of my christmas gifts came from there!

(find her shop here!)

Julie- I was so sad that I found her at the end of her wedding planning because her wedding looked so cool! I wish I had been reading the whole time! Anyhoo, she has a great blog with lots of posts about her fun knitting projects and such. Check her out, buy cute vintage stuff. Its a win win!

(find her shop here!)
Liz- I don't think I ever told her this, but I geeked out when we starting commenting back and forth on each other's blogs. I couldn't believe the girl with the wedding I had bookmarked on so many blogs was talking to me! And she was too cool! And now she is a momma to an adorable little kiddo. Check out her shop, I am partial to the lollipop cards.

(find her shop here!)
Catherine- We go way back. Back to high school art club! Through the magic of the internet, we are now back in touch which I love. Her wedding was gorgeous (to look at since I was (I mean 'am') a total facebook creep). She was also a big help to me while planning. Also, she loves Neko Case too so that makes her great in my book.

Alright people, get shopping or atleast get to marking things as 'favorites'.

Oh and one last thing, you can buy this on Amazon now!

* anyone I missed, message me on etsy! let's be shop friends!
**check back in a couple days! she is having technical difficulties right now!

oh, mornings

(nice sleepy photo of one of our cats. this is my basic morning face too. waking up is the worst! a close second is getting out of the shower...)

do you ever have grand plans for your mornings? I go to bed each night with a plan: wake up early. comment on + read all my favorite blogs. make breakfast. update blog. write emails. run errands. all before work at 8:30 + a 40 minute commute.

do you know the only thing I've gotten done*?
opening my etsy shop and hitting 'refresh' to see how many page views my new item has gotten.

fail.

* not including waking up, showering, ironing and throwing together this crummy half assed post!

gab gab gab

(sold!)

Sorry I have been mia on the blogscene. I have actually been working on custom orders! I had two last week and I am working on three more right now. It kind of stinks not to have them going through my shop's site but regardless I am making toys and people seem happy! Also, I went to a super awesome fabric store with friends this weekend (best friends, indian buffet, ice cream & fabric shopping? Does it get any better????). I cleaned up on ridiculous discount fabric! I got everything from patterned fabric to velveteen to corduroy. So psyched. I also went to my friend's daughter's art show and got a chance to spend some time with her and her amazing family. Did I mention the art show was right across from Steve Carrell's general store? I was nervous I was going to see him since Ryan was running late and he is a much bigger Office fan then me and that would not be fair. I did not see him though (my friend did see him at our Super Target once though!). I did get a little sad watching how adorable her son is (he's 2) and really longing for a little one. In time, hopefully! Couple last notes: (1) how awesome is it when the blogging community gets together to do something? I just gave a little but I knew it would add it and it sure did! (2) my husband's new book is out. It's only on kindle now but will available on amazon soon. Check it out if you are looking for something to read! Also, he has a couple others for sale on amazon as well here. I love him to bits and he's extremely talented so take a look!

Much love to everyone, hope everyone had a nice weekend too!

(the pig! this might be my favorite...)

MY SHOP!*

please stop by and check it out. the inventory will be (errr...should be) updated often (as soon as I finish making one, I will try to post it! I am on a roll making a couple a week.)

so, what do you think? hope you like it!

*told you ohsherry is my go to username. I already had an etsy account (for my ever expanding wishlist). the actual title of the shop is 'tiny bear'. my mom called me that as a pet name once (recently) and it was so ridiculous but totally adorable at the same time.

in her own words

Hi everyone. I was fully intending on participating in 'In Her Own Words' but the flu got the best of me. Trust me, you would not have liked/understood what I had to say while crazed with fever. It probably would have gone a little like:" being a lady...lady bits...the boobies...one time...hoo ha...blee bloop blip....." Catch my drift? Anyways, be sure to read the entries by many talented bloggers who write much more eloquently than me, whether I have a fever or not. Please check them out!

"In Her Own Words: In Celebration of International Women's Day 2011" was created to share and celebrate the experiences of women from many walks of life. All day Tuesday, March 8th Any Other Wedding and One Cat Per Person will feature posts written by a collective of intelligent, passionate and opinionated women bloggers from the United States and the United Kingdom. We encourage you to comment and create dialouge as well as visit their respective blogs. The conversation starts here, but it does not need to end here. Be sure to stop by Any Other Wedding and One Cat Per Person throughout the day to read all of the posts in the series. For more information about International Women's Day, visit www.internationalwomensday.com.
